Balenciaga RTW Fall/Winter 2013

Eric Wilson (New York Times) Reports On Reactions To The Show:

But by the time the show had ended, many people said their perceptions of Mr. Wang and his abilities as a designer had changed. It was no small triumph for him that the immediate reactions were not only positive about the designs, described as restrained and respectful to the heritage of Balenciaga, but also his handling of the pressure of replacing the popular designer Nicolas Ghesquière, who announced his departure last fall.
- See more here.

Anna Wintour:
I am very proud. It was such a restrained show. I thought everything was wearable, with obviously lots of bows to Balenciaga himself. I thought it was a very smart way to start, bu not giving too many fireworks.

Daniela Agnelli / Fashion Director of London’s Telegraph Magazine:
If I had closed my eyes, I would not have known it was Alexander Wang designing. There was a lot of pressure for him. I was expecting to see something more sporty, in his kind of style. I was surprised to see such an amazing elegance and such a chic collection.

Song of the Day + Marte Mei van Haaster for i-D Spring 2012

Marte Mei van Haaster by Kacper Kasprzyk for i-D Spring 2012

It's an old photo, and although I normally post all-things new, I had to make an exception because it's lovely. Below is a song from MGMT's "Late Night Tales", which if you didn't know, is a compilation album, and the 25th of its kind. "The band’s Late Night Tales selection of post-punk, cult indie and counter-culture figureheads reflects the band’s multifaceted sound, and draws comparisons with contemporary dreampop/chillwave/shoegaze/folk scenes on both sides of the Atlantic." Enjoy X

Rodarte Fall/Winter 2013

Theory: Pinstripe Pants

I got these pants at Bloomingdales at the beginning of last summer. They still have the tag on them because for some reason or another, I never got around to using them at all. Up until today, I decided to try them on and thought it's about time they make an appearance in my weekly wardrobe. Although very spring (and rather day-time looking) they can be transformed into nightwear if worn with my Gucci heels and the right top. I'm definitely going to experiment with them soon X

Photographers: Blommers & Schumm, Styling by Karen Langley, Hair by Riad Azar

I love the use of shadows and lighting in this shoot. Not to mention the styling and white-blonde long hair.. this model is amazing. I'm not sure exactly where this was shot but everything about it looks a helluva lot like South Beach to me...X

MEOW

How badass are these clever Céline knockoff/spinoff sweatshirts by Brian Lichtenberg? I wish I'd had one of these for the cold weekend that just passed... but whose to say there aren't more to come? You can snag your very own "Féline" (I can't help but almost want to pronounce it like I would Céline) right HERE.

A Few Things: Long Weekend Edition

(Michelle Williams for AnOther Magazine SS 2013 by Willy Vanderperre)
Good morning followers! It's currently 11:43 AM and I've only just begun to caffeinate myself... Above (and below) are a few *sweet treats* for this long weekend that I hope you will all enjoy.

(Living, Thinking, Looking by Siri Hustvedt)
Essays exploring the three subjects expressed in the title. Living, Thinking, Looking brings together 32 essays written by Hustvedt between the years 2006 and 2011. The essays pluck at insights from neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, psychoanalysis, and of course literature. From what I've read about the book thus far (I'm expecting to receive it in the week to come), it seems to detangle these three themes in terms of the authors own life (Living), in memory, emotion, and imagination (Thinking), and lastly in visual art (Looking).

Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign featuring models Arizona Muse, Adriana Lima, Martha Hunt, Tamara Weijenberg, Malgosia Bela, Doutzen Kroes, and Bette Franke. Miu Miu has done 7 individual 22 second videos apart from this one with each one of the models from the campaign that you can see right HERE.

Karlie in Blue

I don't usually do this but I had to make an exception because of how good model Karlie Kloss rocked this Michael Kors dress. She wore it to the 55th Annual Grammy Awards with silver Michael Kors shoes to match. I can't help but let the cutout detailing remind me of the stewardesses from the movie The Fifth Element:

and I mean this in the best way possible X

Things to Want: LIZZY DISNEY ENVELOPE BAG

Loving the simplicity of the Matt envelope bag by Lizzy Disney. It's almost reminiscent to me of the Camrbidge Satchel Company bags, except these are far more simplified. They're made with hard leather and a suede lining, and each have a flat pocket on the back along with brass detailing. This is definitely on my Spring wish list! X

BAGA WHAT?

bagātība (n.) THE LATVIAN WORD FOR "OPULENCE", MEANING WEALTH, PLENTITUDE, AND FORTUNE. IT IS ALSO ONE OF MY FAVOURITE JEWELRY LINES BY PORN STAR JESSIE ANDREWS. IS IT ODD THAT SHE CREATES JUST WHAT I CRAVE? DAINTY, DELICATE, ALMOST NOTHINGNESS-LIKE PIECES THAT JUST RELAX ON YOUR NECK, FINGERS, WRISTS, AND EARS WITH SIMPLE EASE. THIS IS THE SECOND PURCHASE I'VE MADE FROM BAGATIBA, THE FIRST WAS THE "PERFECT RING", AND NOW THE SECOND ONE PICTURED ABOVE, "THE GYPSY NECKLACE". IT IS JUST AS BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON AS IT IS IN PICTURES, AND ALMOST EVEN TINIER AND MORE DELICATE THAN I'D IMAGINED (WHICH ONLY PLEASES ME MORE). JESSIE CLEARLY ISN'T JUST A PORN STAR- THE GIRL SURPRISINGLY HAS LOVELY TASTE. CHECK OUT HER TUMBLR (YES, THAT'S RIGHT) AND THE OFFICIAL BAGATIBA WEBSITE HERE AND HERE. X

FOREVER WANG

I DID MY NAILS YESTERDAY AND WORE ALEXANDER WANG. HIS CLOTHES ALWAYS MAKE ME FEEL EFFORTLESSLY CASUAL/COOL/MINIMALISTICALLY CHIC, YET STILL DRESSED UP AND FASHIONABLE. HENCE WHY I HAD TO MAKE A POST ABOUT HOW MUCH THIS DUDE ROCKS MY WORLD, THANKS WANG. X

FLAT CHAT

I can't even begin to express the obsession I've had over these flats since the first time I saw them. They're probably the more or most versatile ones I've ever come across. But of course, like the majority of beautifully designed anything, they are a bit steep price-wise. So what's a gal to do when she can't have her Jenni Kayne D'orsay Flats? Fantasizing could never be enough but perhaps a relatively decent alternative would (I think not)...Leather, pleather, whatever- I'm not even sure if these shoes are an acquired taste but for some reason they have this timeless thing about them in my opinion.

BUN RINGS

Over the past months I've been completely obsessing over updos- particularly high buns. Whether I'm in a hurry or I'm just not in the mood to have my hair flying around about my face, a bun is always the easiest do. So the other day I was looking at the beauty products on Urban, because for some time now they have had some interesting products on their website and I came across these bun rings... and I couldn't help but notice not only the great reviews, but the volume they apparently give to your hair (particularly fine hair which I have), so I took the plunge and ordered them. This look is rather refined in a way, but I'm sure there are ways around that by making it look naturally messy with fly-aways and such. Either way I'm giving it a whirl and if it goes well I'll make a review about it with the results XX

Watch a tutorial HERE.
